I just spent over $10k on a rebuild for my 7MGTE, and it sounds like crap; knocking, ticking, missing, etc. I pulled my old motor because the crank pulley wobbled the end of the crank snout, chewing up the keyway on the crank. It ran 13's at 105mph, pulled 300rwhp on the dyno, and purred like a kitten at idle, except for the clunking crank pulley, just days before I pulled it to fix the crank.
Now I'm pissed, cause it sounds like it's got rod knock from the moment I started it. Quality work is soooooooooooooo rare these days. I'd like to build my other motor (i have 2 7MGTE motors), but I don't want to spend a bunch of money to get back something worse than what I started with. Does anyone know of a good shop in the Pacific Northwest (I'm in eastern Washington State) that does top-quality rebuilds with no tolerance for sloppy work, maybe even a warranty? |
