The car companies go through a lot of effort in designing their cars. They do not just drop an engine into a car. There are a lot of things to thing about. It could be dangerous to do your own design without engineering support. Thus is the main reason for my dislike. I would be against putting a Supra engine into a Camero.

This thread is almost depressing to read.... partly because everybody is bashing on this guy, and partly because of what hes doing to his Supra...

I admire how he continues to post up and push through his project despite the hate from everybody towards it, and I also admire his way of cheaply getting a dead car back to life. HOWEVER, I can see how swapping in an inferior engine and a roller paint job could be a great and cheap way to fix up an old toyota CAMRY but it kind of hurts me inside to see that being done to a SUPRA.

On the bright side, at least this means that another supra shell will be actually used and hopefully maintained opposed to sitting and rusting/breaking down in somebody's garage or yard.

Default 1987 Toyota MKIII Supra V8 Chevy 350 Swap

Not done yet! Trying to include all the areas people question. Like how the engine plates are made. How to mount the transmission. How to build the driveshaft. Hope some of these pics help the next person.

Default 1987 350 Chevy V8 Supra Build MKIII Conversion

This build can be done quick. Only part I had to source out was the welding which cost me $400 and have the driveshaft built, $130.

Default How to Build a V8 Powered Supra

The engine and tranny are securely fastened in there as you can see from the pics. When it's opened up at WOT this thing is nasty.

Suppose you did a ok job raping Supra. It is disturbing for me to see pictures like yours. About other peoples post well this is a web site dedicated to the Toyota Supra and not hybrids. You could at least put a vacuum to car, fix the windscreen and do a better paint job. I would be embarrassed to bring her to a car show. Boot of the car is dirty.
Well have fun always and be very careful driving your hafu. If you are driving hard it is the smallest things that go wrong. A tiny thing you have overlooked can get you and others killed. My bet is in a front end accident you are going to be kissing engine. I would not bet my life on a $400 set of engine brackets. Remember the engine transmission combo was designed by engineers and then crash tested.
Again good luck and please clean her up a bit.

[RANT, MOOD="ANNOYED"]

Alright, I think that's about enough bashing on him....

The whole point of the forum is to share, help, and connect with other supra owners. Vacationtime247 shared something he thinks is a cool idea, and presented it in a way that someone else in his situation could replicate it.

If you still feel the need to share your opinion about how much you dislike a SBC in a Supra, then feel free to go to the "Off Topic Forum", start a new thread, and share it there.

I think any future posts that aren't beneficial to this topic will disappear...
