Default 1g-gte

the car that i just bought has a 1G-GTE in it, i need to know if its still a good idea getting this car or not,

i've barly seen this motor listed in any of the forms on here,
is it going to be alot worse to find parts for cause it is a little rarer?>
(2.0L Twin turbo, 89 GT)

please get back to me soon....

If i had the funds, I'd get it just because there aren't as many driving around with the 1G in them. Well, that's coming from someone who lives in the US so of course there aren't any here.

I would have to imagine that it will be harder to find parts (and therefore probably more expensive, too) because it's not as common as the 7M or 1JZ. I'd say keep looking so that you don't have to go through the headache of looking for parts or any information (and forum help) on it.

so it is rarer?
how many people on here have you seen with them...
because i know it'll be hard to find parts for i just want to know how hard...
and i was told when i bought it that it was a 2.5L twin, which is the 1J, but i took it to a shop, turns out to be the 1G-GTE
its still a nice engine but im getting it checked out alot more because i don't want anything to go wrong with it.

and its only got 87,000 KMS on it.. ( not miles)

right hand drive,

its not a bad little car but..
im soo worried about the engine.

Why are you worried exactly?

With 87,000km on the clock you will have no need to replace parts, except the ignitor pack, as they shit themselves every 100,000km or so.

Much more reliable than the 7M, most likely due to the lower hp and torque figures.

Parts aren't that hard to find for them, you can use 1G-GE parts for pretty much everything. Just raid soarers, cressidas, altezzas, chasers and markIIs all of them have either the GE or GTE. Not to mention you can get most parts TGP still.

really are you sure?
then again i haven't seen many of thoes are in general being in alberta,
and its kinda weird, the guy who im buying it off of only put 1000kms on it..
and just burnt the out something in the clutch trying to get it out of the ice...

and it was a brand new clutch,
after he did that what other problems should i look out for?

cause thats quite a bit of torque being put on everything in the drive train, since the car never moved,

and was in there so good it even pulled the toe truck back 2 feet after he tried to rip it out of the ice.
