Dies after rpm drop
 

I just bought a 89 turbo 5 speed and it dies after quick rpm drop. It idles perfectly and runs great but if I let the rpms drop quickly then they will go all the way to zero (at which point obviously the car dies). I have a straight 3" exhaust (no muffler or cat). Might it be because of lack of backpressure? Ideas?
