tranny question
i have a 88 turbo supra. I recently purchased another 7mgte motor to work on and build up. My supra is automatic and was wondering tranny i can use for a big power setup. thanks guys.

Depends what you mean by 'big power'?
and do you mean tranny as in transmission (auto) or as a generic term, eg manual? If manual a W55/7/8 will handle up to about 400hp comfortable unless you are abusing it (drags) but that will shit any box after a length of time. Anything more and you'd have to go with the bigger R154. If you want auto, i'm not familiar with the boxes used, but the standard a340e (i think it is) will handle ~350 if you treat it nicely. |

Correct me if I'm wrong but,You might even be able to use the 5 speed automatic tranny from a 1998 or newer Lexus sc300/400, I 'm not sure how much you would have to fabricate, but I 've heard that those trannys are pretty beefy (durable).

the transmission is automatic, i want to keep it auto, i just dont have the time to be doing a full auto to manual swap. if i could i would. plus theres no error in shifting if the shift points are tuned. let me know guys.
