I'll look into that as well, but I have a spare head, so I'll work on that first. I plan on getting the hks gasket and using the arp head studs. With that combo, the gasket should last for awhile, espaecially since I plan to only run like 7-9 psi.

why dont you drop a 7mgte right in there

I was planning on going with the arp studs and hks gasket when i do the head gasket. I'll look at the block/bottom end when i swap the heads.I can't really do that now because my supra is my daily driver right now until I fix my accord. I going to start with the head work tho, since i have the spare head laying around in the garage. http://www.toyota-supra.info/forums/...ons/icon10.gif

By the way. Which cams are better? Crower 264, or Crower 272?

why dont you just shop around for a 7mgte?

Yeah the GTE is FAR cheaper than building a GE into a turbo motor. Do you know all the parts that make a GTE what it is as opposed to a GE? Crazy parts to make it reliable.

I suggest you find a 7MGTE, and swap your GE for it. MUCH LESS HEADACHE. I was gonna do the same thing, but I was told by numerous others who tried it to do the swap instead, but I have a 90. So the mounts for the 1JZ are there. I just have to worry about wiring and drivetrain.

The wiring for the 1JZ isn't that hard really as long as you take the time like I did and put in new harness plugs instead of soldering the connections for the four plugs you have to replace. I just bought some harness plugs that had enough pin holes to work and then bought the pins and did mine that way. As for the main engine harness you don't have to extend it you can always use the tuck like most people do it helps keep the integrity of the original harness.

Well, it will be a while before I could turbo the car or do a swap. I will be setting a side money whenever I can to do this this project. I will also have to find a second car before then, as the supra is my only car right now. If it looks like it might be cheaper to do a 7mgte swap, I just might.

Buy a *7mgte*, unless you plan on buying everything exactly down to the needle, 7mge's don't have the oil sprayers in the block, trust me you want those. Other thing is, you will need to rebuild the engine if plan to turbo it, and usually that requires you to remove it, so why not swap it with a 7mgte.

87mk111 04-28-2009 02:04 PM

Well, I'm trying to find a turbo block because of the oil sprayers. If I can find a block, I can pair it with the spare head I have, and basically build my own image. But If I have to, I will rebuild the block I have. By the way, will the crank have to be replaced, or is the stock one pretty beefy?
