Is this a vacuum line?
I'm in the middle of changing my (original) vacuum hoses to silicone, and the device down below the turbo, on the left side with a "Toyota" sticker on it and with one hose coming out of it, isn't on the hose diagram posted elsewhere on this site. (1987-MKIII) Can anyone identify what the device is? More importantly is that a vacuum line coming out of it that should be changed?

I'm sure its a pressure line and yea if its not silicone change it... if you get 2 kind of long pieces of silicone hoses that thickness and put a pressure regulator in the middle you can adjust the amount of boost higher than 8 Lbs..

OK. I just read that that is the waste gate actuator, and it controls the bypass valve on the exhaust side of the turbine, based upon the pressure on the inlet air side of the turbine. I suppose it wouldn't hurt to change it's pressure hose.

Yea waste gate actuator. Def change that, you don't want some crappy hose on that or you might risk blowing the turbo.
