Garage Find! My new 1987 Supra Turbo!
Well, I just bought an 87 Toyota Supra Turbo from my brothers neighbor for $1500. It wasn't for sale. The original owner had it sitting in his garage since 2001. He really didn't know what he wanted to do with it. I'm pretty excited about it. He says that it had a BHG and was fixed. But he didn't like the way it was running so he parked it. And there it sat for 8 years!! It looks to be in pretty good shape. Paint just needs to be buffed out. Interior is original and showing its age. Leather seats need some attention. It hasn't started in 8 years so I got some work to do to get her running again. Here are some pics. I also notice some things missing and not connected right. So please help on those things.
It sat in this garage since 2001. http://img412.imageshack.us/img412/5232/img00617.jpg http://img412.imageshack.us/img412/5053/img00621.jpg http://img412.imageshack.us/img412/6626/img00626.jpg http://img412.imageshack.us/img412/7200/img00627.jpg http://img412.imageshack.us/img412/2909/img00628.jpg The only thing I didn't like was that its an Automatic. But I'll live! http://img412.imageshack.us/img412/3047/img00629.jpg Leather is pretty rough in the front. Rear is perfect. http://img412.imageshack.us/img412/6599/img00630.jpg http://img412.imageshack.us/img412/8400/img00631.jpg Broken BVSV?? Do I need it. Vacuum lines are either missing or not connected. http://img412.imageshack.us/img412/8857/img00632.jpg Where does this connect to. Missing vacuum line? Didn't see it in any diagram. http://img412.imageshack.us/img412/1827/img00633.jpg What does this wire go to? It looks to be a ground for something. http://img412.imageshack.us/img412/1848/img00636.jpg Overall it seems to be in pretty good shape. Oil looks ok. I drained the coolant which was pretty nasty and rusty looking. I flushed it out as mush as I could. I was able to turn it over by hand with no problem. Seems like whoever worked on it last rushed to put things back together and didn't plug everything back in properly. The VSV?? are not mounted to anything and their seems to be a vacuum line unplugged down there as well. I want to drain the gas and put some fresh gas in and get it started soon. Let me know what you think. This will be my daily driver once I get it running good. Will give me more time to play with my other toy!! http://img24.imageshack.us/img24/7803/img00604.jpg |
That missing vacuum line is your feed for the blowoff valve. There should be a 3 inch L shaped vacuum line going straight down connecting to another hard line.
That wire connects to the coilpack bracket, it should have a small ring terminal on it. Do you see that smaller vacuum line near your missing vacuum line for the blowoff valve? That vacuum line goes to the BVSV and then to the charcoal canister. |
