Couple of MKIII Questions......
My son is putting his 89 MKIII 7m-GTE, back together in AutoTech class after it was torn down a bit to replace the tired stock CT-26, Exhaust Manifold Gasket, VC Gaskets, and all the oil seals in the front of the engine as well as the timing belt. Its back together, runs great. My question is there is a small hose on the bottom of the Accordion hose after the Airflow meter. Its about 12mm thick of so and about 8-10 long and bent @ almost 90 degrees upward at the end like it should plug into a valve or something. I can't for the life of me figure out where this hose connects. It still has a spring clamp on it. Its larger than the typical vacuum lines but looks like a small fuel line type design. Where the Heck does this thing go? Also, one of the Power steering hoses is leaking at the crimp...Where is a good source (Other than my local Stealership) to get replacement power steering hoses?

The only line I can find on the bottom of my accordian hose is the
L-fitting out of the accordian and it's vacuum line which goes to the wastegate actuator. If that's not what you're referring to could you take a pic and post it for us? Most of the owners I know have ended up spending the money and getting their PS high-pressure lines from a dealership. The quality is high and they generally last a good, long time. Check around before you buy, as not all stealerships are as abusive as others on their parts prices. |

That little L shaped fitting leads to one of the power steering lines, there is two.
Stand over the passenger front fender and look straight down past the power steering resorvoir, about a foot and a half below it. There should be two fittings down there with two hoses coming off of it. The one closest to you should hook up to the fitting underneath the intake, if there is a hose on there at all. If it is just a regular rubber hose you could try going to advanced auto parts or auto zone and finding a similar shaped/diameter hose and cutting it to length...each hose is maybe 5 dollars and it'll work just fine.

Weird. I already had an Engine and tranny from a wreck to put in a chevy luv but came across the MKIII thought it would just be better to get it and put the engine in there instead....Check out the handy work.. body prep 1 hour after the last coat of clearcoat... |

Ok...I know you guys like visuals...who doesn't... here are some photos from a couple of months ago, during the body prep
phase of this restore. Car has been in the family for about 12 or so years... It was my daily commuter until it started leaking oil and pS fluid all over the place... so I gave it to my son when he turned 18. check out the stages...
