engine makes knocking noise..

I have a fresh rebuilt 7mgte and when i turn the car on it has a knocking noise. almost like a rod knock...when you rev the car fast the car also does the noise. but while driving the car anything above 1500 rpm with smooth acceleration the noise is not there. also sounds like its coming from the top of the motor. any ideas guys?

I have the same thing. When I start the car I hear a little bit of rod knocking just for a quick second. As I rev the engine to about 2500-3000 rpms I hear a high speed fluttering sound that seems too quiet to be knocking. I went and had it diagnosed and they said that it could be the seals but the engine probably needs to be rebuilt. I hope it's not the case but that's what I've come to.

did u guys change the oil recently? If u didnt have the problem before, try changing the oil filter. Sometimes brand new oil filters are faulty and can cause that knocking noise at startup or low rpm. Sounds funny, but i had that problem after an oil change.

I would fast forward to the last time marked in the notes section if you wanna just hear the sound.
This just happened to mine on Monday, and on Tuesday it broke down and the Crankshaft is seized up.
