Engine Knock
Hi there all.. Well, I've got an 87 Supra 3.0L turbo. Replaced the headgasket ( I bought it with the BHG) and it runs completely fine, idles and everything when cold. After it warms up, oil pressure seems to go down and the engine knocks loudly. No engine light or anything, still runs good, just a bad knock. Has this happened to anyone? Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks all!! Cori

Rebuild time, or at the very least time to pull the oil pan and find out which of your rod/crank bearings are toasted. When the engine heats up and the tolerances open up your oil pressure falls at least partly due to bad/worn/spun bearings in the bottom of the engine.
Ask not for whom the rod knocks, it knocks for thee. |

Well, I figured based on his edited post about RK that where that bypass line goes was the least of his problems.

Lol yes indeed. Figured the hose thing out, but didn't know how to delete the thread so I just editted it. Thanks for the responses! I agree, I guess I've just gotta tear out that engine and do some serious work. I was hoping to get a little drive time before the winter with the Supra but I suppose it'll have to wait. And now I've got these 18" rims and rubber that'll sit in my house I guess till it's running lol. I got what worked out at the moment.. unless omseone's interested in them? I'll post pictures if I get enough interest. Thanks again!
