i got my old ks out.. but i lost it somewhere.. not on the ground.. and i cant find it anywhere so far? lol..
ohwell.. it'll come up.
i unbolted the starter
but i think i unbolted the wrong bolts.... (stupidme)
i unbolted the two long ass bolts from the front of the starter. and i pulled it out.. and the metal thing with two bearings on it came out..
i had room to put in my new ks so i did that.. but now when i try to put the starter back together.. the front cover thing wont go back on? and i cant take it off either.. (the front cover thing from the main body part of the starter with the writing on it) it seems to be attatched inside by two wires.. and i cant take the whole thing out because there's this rubber thing holding everything on?
like i said.. im not familiar with starters at all.. and i looked at the tsrm and confused the shit out of myself because those diagrams arent clear..
any help? i need the get the car running by tonightt!!

These are the two bolts that hold the starter on, not that easy to get at especially on a left-hand drive (I guess) with the steering column in the way. Remember to disconnect the battery first, the large wire, which is bolted to the starter, is the positive feed for the main motor. The small thin wire (also positive) activates the solenoid plunger/switch via the ignition switch, Sounds like you may have removed the end of the main motor cover exposing the brushes that make contact with the commutator. Should all go back together once the motor is off.
