Default hillbillytuner- head gasket

I hope you are reading your factory repair manual well???

Titan Motors Sports is big on Supra after market parts. I recommend using an after market steel head gasket and head bolts by ARC.

Titan can help you with the thickness after you tell them how much the machine shop removed. Check the block for trueness. Be sure and use Loctite or other like material on the crankshaft pulley bolt and proper torgue.

Default Head gasket info

I'm in the middle of a 7MGE rebuild (you can check out my thread on this form) and have learned not Head gaskets are alike. The factory gasket that lasted 20 years had copper crush rings around all the water ports. I purchased a complete engine rebuild kit from the shop for $200 and the head gasket did not have the same crush rings as the OEM

So I checked out the gaskets from CAR Quest and NAPA and they all have the same OEM crush rings at $85 for just the gasket. I am going to toss the one from the kit and pay the extra $85 since I don't want to do this job for another 20 years.

Good idea... always inspect your gaskets before you install them. As you correctly assumed, those crush rings are there for a reason. Have you checked out how much a Toyota gasket will run you? If it's just a little bit more, that'll be the way to go if you don't want a metal one
