I just compression check my JDM 7MGTE motor and got 150-160 psi for all 6 cylinders. My repair manual says that stock compression should be 142 psi per cylinder. I have stock internals and a Greddy 1.5mm head gasket and have not had the block of head milled. What could be causing such a high compression check, not that I'm complaining.

Seems to be the norm for having a metal head gasket by what I've seen on these forums. As long as you don't detonate...

What seems to be the norm, the metal head gasket or the high compression from having a metal head gasket. Every one that has a 7M know you need a metal head gasket.

The increased pressure with a MHG SEEMS to be the norm. Did you have a valve job done or anything while the head was off? Valve can decrease the size of the combustion chamber bumping up compressions too

No no valve job, stock internal motor.

stock compression is 142psi or more

no more of a variance than 14psi per barrel

so as long as they're even

ya good ;)
