I have had my 87 supra for 3 years, and let me tell you it is not a daily driver. It is most definately a project car. Lets be honest it would take some cash and some bloodying the knuckles to make one of these cars reliable for daily driving purposes. Don't get me wrong they are awesome cars, but not recommended for being daily drivers without spending some dough to make sure they are bulletproof.

Long time
I've owned my 90 Supra for 20 years. Owned a 86 Supra for 4 years before that.
Never had a single problem till last month when it blew its HG. Before that drove it every day with out a problem. Doing a full engine rebuild now so I can have it another 20 years. If your vehicle hasn't had a HG replacement then it probably going to need one. The problem is that if HG symptoms have been there awhile, when you go to fix it - there will be a lot more to do. Good news is that even after 20 years the valves, cams, pistons, crank were still good. Inline 6's ware much better then V's If you want good reliable transportation for school that will not cost a lot - get a bike. If you want something that looks cool and drives great keep the SUPRA. Actually - I was faced with the same problem when I went to collage – owned a little British sports car in high school that took all my money – but hey, I was living at home. The month before I left for school it blew an engine and I had to sell it. Used a bike for 2 years after that. When I did graduate and got a job I bought a Supra. However, to this day, I still wish I had that British car. So my advise to you is – mothball the project car, wait till your out and making money and then restore it. |

Yeah keeping the supra sure would be great, my first car was a mazda Rx-7. I still miss that car, it was very dependable for me, she never let me down. Sold it for 500 bucks and i wish i never sold it. I will never sell my supra.

I've had my mk3 for just about 5 weeks. But fuel pump? has caused me to park her for the last couple of weeks. She was doing great as a daily driver but one morning, she was good goin west. Turned right and felt like she stalled... but her rpm's just pffffttt... she stalled once I took my foot off the gas.. and would only start once a day for ~10 days and run for a few seconds at ~200rpm before she'd stall or scare me into shutting her off.
Hope to get her fixed this weekend, and hoping to not have continued problems... although I know I need to fix the connector to the thermostat sensor and get my alignment done... hopefully it stops there till I can save for emergencies again. |

I've only had mine for about a month, but I love it to death already, haven't gotten nearly much work done on it, but I know when I'm done with it she'll be driving like a champ.
I would love a 93 though can't seem to find any where I'm from unless I want to pay out like 10 Grand, because it was someone elses project. My 89 still turns heads and people ask me all kinds of questions, some I can't even answer.
