Whats the best advance for 7MGE
 

Ive go my supra up and running after a BHG, the manuals say to set to 10 BTDC is this the best place for power? What is better BTDC or ATDC? Im so used to working on OBD2 cars that Ive never had to mess with timing so this is all a little new to me. They dont even cover this in my classes at the college. The teacher had me set to 10 above but it seems like its running a little rich and a little slow.

Base ignition timing is set at 10 degrees BTDC. This means that when you have a jumper wire in the diagnostic box (just like checking for a check engine light) and a timing light aimed at the crank pulley, with each strobe the notch will be lined up with the 10 on the lower timing cover (piece of metal behind the crank pulley). Once that is set, pull the jumper wire out of the diagnostic box and make sure that the timing advances (usually to about 12 degrees BTDC).
