imported into UK 1989 GT Limited
Anyone out there know much about this model ?
ie, Digital dash kmh to mph or on the auto transmission ECT-S there is a manu button how does this operate. Have had a 3.0L turbo Auto before but didn't have same spec as this. Last thing service/hand book mines in Japanese !! cheers |

not sure about the instrument cluster/guages... but that setting on your tranny should be a switch between norm or pwr... basically (from my understanding of it), it's electronically controlled to allow a different band of RPMs for the gears... dunno if it's thru changing shift points, gear ratios, or what... but I don't think it's a switch to manual... those kinda trannies didn't become popular till the turn of the century (as far as I know).

Imports ?
cheers for the reply, i know it can not actually mean manual as there is no way to shift through the gears, like you say just another rev ratio. Will just have to try, by the way its a Japanese 1989 GT LImited model.
Raining in UK again !! Darryl Anyone out there with English hand/sevice book Australia maybe ? |

are you asking what the pwr and econ buttons do on your Electriacly Controlled Transsmision? (ECT) i have them on my soarer its a 4 speed auto tranny cant remember the name AE40 or something, anyways pwr holds gears down longer and econ will shift earlier..

auto transmission
No what i'm saying is next to the auto shift is the pwr/econ button which is fairly common but below it is the same kind of button with manu wrote on it, below that is ECT-s. It is all factory fitted as when manu button pressed, on the digital dash manu appears on it.
Hope this ex[lains it better. Cheers Darryl |

if it's anything like:
then the manu button you refer to is the econ button we speak of... it's a japanese vehicle, so I'm sure "manu" is japanese for "economic" or whatever... and not a missed english abreviation for manual... that'd probably be more likely "man"... so you have the pwr, the manu/econ and your overdrive button... the only other button should be on the thumb end of the shifter to allow shifting between gears. |

Its exactly like that picture , but with no buttons depressed ECON shows on dash, press PWR and ECON goes off and PWR shows on dash, press MANU and PWR button jumps up and PWR goes off on dash and displays PWR.
Probably as someone has said a differernt rev ratio maybe ? Cheers for getting interested Darryl |
