7M-GTE Head torques on stock bolts...
So I've just been reading through the various threads on head bolt torque settings & the concencus seems to be that on a stock gasket with ARP studs or bolts, 80-90ft-lb is the way to go to avoid BHG issues a few thousand miles down the line.
Just wondering as my engine has a recent full rebuild but (at a guess) still runs stock bolts, what torque can said stockers handle being taken to? I only ask because I'd like to make sure the head's as tight as possible without going through the rigmarole of fitting a new HG & bolts at least until I need to, at such time I'll probably splash out on ARP's. From what I've read, 'yota say 58ft-lb stock, but could the stock bolts handle say 70/75 without waisting/stripping or anything else as nasty? Cheers, Dan. |

Ahh cool, that's the first job when I get the car back then as it was rebuilt by a general engine remanufacturers not a Toyota specialist, so I'd imagine the bolts'll be at 58...
Cheers. EDIT-: man it's quiet today, this is the only post to be answered since last night!!! Oh well, hopefully it means people are out driving & not having to fix their cars... |
