Wikipedia Japan, the auto sales sites I managed to get Google to translate, Toyota's parts system (thanks Jeff!) all list a 1993 JZA70. I searched Google Japan for JZA70 1993 and for JZA70 1992.5. No Japanese hits for 1992.5 but plenty for 1993. TRD Japan shows it having been sold until 1993.5.
So.... I'm sticking with calling it a '93. It doesn't really matter anyway, they were only RHD, JDM, are rare as hell and it's unlikely you'll ever see one in the States. EDIT: Oh, and Green, no differences (thanks again to Jeff). |

Post more pics... they're aftermarket. I had Jeff look up the part numbers... no changes. Also, all Toyota part numbers are formatted XXXXX-XXXXX, I don't know how far back that convention goes, but it started well before the MKIII and it's still what they use today. If they say "Toyota" on them I don't know who made them. If they're retroreflective they're probably made by a guy who goes by Wolfie out of the UK. He makes some based on a mold of genuine Toyota lenses; They will have a Toyota part number on them from the casting (unless he removed it in which case it would be a big blank). Mind posting some closeups of yours? To me yours look just like the DEPO lenses I've got.
Wolfie's will have the following part numbers: 81521-14332 81511-14332 Seriously, if they were a stock unit people would be ordering for them instead of special ordering the half clear Euro style or paying even more for the lenses from Wolfie which requires replacing the clear lens of the stock housing with the new, clear lens.

Wolfie's lenses: (Price was around $150USD, OEM Euro and JDM are available for under $100USD)
I have to add that I really prefer Wolfie's lenses to the "diamond-clear" after market lenses. Last edited by cre; 01-16-2010 at 02:53 AM. |

HAHAHAHAHA don't own me for this, says "toyota replacement", not toyota ;;
which explains why the numbering is ??-???? ?? ???? er whatever, my camera wont take any good pictures due to lighting right now, I'll take some tmw when there is more light... on a side note... I GOT THE RADIATOR!!! for that aftermarket radiator post I had up last week! And yeah I'm really digging the wolfies lenses. I believe the lights I had were also made from a toyota mold... just not as good as wolfies. Mine look a lot duller compared to the two you posted already. Hey, what's the production date on your car? I THINK year models are Sept. through August. So Sept. '89 - Aug. '90 would be a '90... I'm not positive though, but i think that was it. The style of turn signals we have are commonly called JDM, but it's just because "JDM" has become so damned trendy. BTW, a '92 is still a hell of a catch... quite rare (at least in North America).

Ahhh alright heres what he said, its late year 92 MA71 model car said he bought it brand new from the manufacturer in october of 93, which leaves me to believe its just the limited edition 92 with a sunroof or a 93 as you stated before.
Also asked him about the lights, said it came the way he sold it to me aside from suspension and steering wheel Last edited by 916MKIIIx2; 01-16-2010 at 03:11 AM. |

One other difference I noticed from my 90 to my girls 92-93 is... heres stock weighed a hell of a lot less then mine
mines somewhere around 3,654 her's is 3,389, you happen to know anything about that? I dont really see the difference in the car of that much weight? maybe they forgot to get out of the car when they weighed mine lol |
