Hi ppl, i installed a FCD from turboxs on my 89 toyo supra turbo and it seems like it works ok , but it doesnt stop the computer from hitting fuel cut.? i am tapped into the orange wire of the (asst sensor turbo pressure +5v) even if i unplug the vac line to this sensor i still hit overboost fuel cut.? how can this be happenning? am i in the wrong sensor? like i say its on drivers fender labeled asst sensor turbo pressure. like assistant? like maybe there is a primary one that i am not seeing? the only other thing i can think of is my stock boost guage is still connected and pegs at 8psi even know my aftermarket one says i hit fuel cut at 14 psi? any one ever run into this ? any ideas please would be very welcome.. :D

turbo pressure sensor is a sensor that tells you how much pressure is in the turbo
i.e. your boost gauge you need a hks type k fcd for the 7mgte (and it installs at the ecu) the type k fcd has 5 wires where normal ones for map sensored cars have 4 resell it and buy a type k :) wiring instructions are on my website for fcd's |
ok i will try that, so with this model car its the mass air flow sensor thats triggering overboost when the turbo pressure sensor is disconected at vacume?
|
you can unplug it, remove it whatever... the turbo pressure sensor will not alter your fuel cut at all... it will only give inaccurate readings on your dashboard
the afm (karman vortex) measures air flow... when too much gets in... it cuts afm signal goes to ecu fcd wires into ecu fcd clamps signal you don't get fuel cut no more and you have the possibility of detonating if you wack the boost up something silly have fun :) |
dont mean do highjack but does this device also affect air/fuel? I see your reply about denotation. if not how do you fix?
|
basically that was a grumpy reply of mine LOL
i have a fcd installed on mine but purely due to my mods i was hitting fc too early... i installed it and never adjusted my boost and also got it dyno'd to ensure it wasn't running lean if you want to run a fcd, install it, drive it (not boost it) to the dyno... get it checked for air/fuel ratios if you only have a dyno 3 hours away..... then it will depend on your mods altho it does vary between car to car what mods have you done for yours? |
shims to hit a full 8lbs of boost. any recommendations?
|
im only running 12 psi now and the air fuel meter has all 4 bars still in the green(rich) so i think im ok to goto 14psi. then im done till i blow this head gasket and replace it with the metal one as far as boost pressure. i just cant get there due to fuel cut, i ordered the hks k3 type so well try that out. you mentioned your website has the wiring instructions but i didnt see them?? maybe you could link it here for me?> thanks for all the info people..
