7mgte mods
i dropped a 7 mgte in my mk2, up boost, via a turbosmart boost controller ,standard is about 5 to 6 pound boost. i went to 12 ~15 pound. Go 3'' exhaust all the way or bigger, depend on boost. I had 3'' of the turbo down to the floorpan ,then 2 and a half the rest but it got a bit restrictive at 15 pound. it would peak and then drop due to too much exhaust trying to get out the small pipe. 2.5 inch that is. a vernier timing gear on cam ( cheaper than new cam by far ) with intercooler . a good stock bottom end will be OK if comp is fine and motor aint clapped out (rooted that is ) no need to think about porting head. it will cost more than it will give you in return. keep an eye on fuel pressure to, if you dont go nuts it should be ok, but you cant go wrong with a walbro pump to be safe. mind you i'm running a microtech computer .

Earlier xx400 series Lexus, not just the SC, and there was a change in the last couple years where something's different... I don't remember the details, I never went that route.

Get the right thermostat in there, have the radiator cap tested and get the coolant tested... your HG may be leaking combustion gasses into the coolant system.

but as im repeating. and i should of put this in my long post about BPU's (basic Performance upgrades) that anything above 14 psi will require internal work. but don't take my word for it do what you want. and yes i am airing on the side of caution but by all means pump it up to 15psi w/o forged internals or any sort of upgraded intercooler or radiator, oil cooler. see how long that lasts ya. now im not saying that YOU CANNOT! im just say that I WOULD NOT. but i could be wrong, I could be talking outa my hat. but am I? i should mention that ive seen first hand what upping your boost too high on a stock engine WILL do. I understand you wanna hop in and go fast. who dosent? but just because your car can go 55mph right after start up on a 25 degree morning dosen't mean you should. take my advice and get your cooling down atleast. before going over 15psi. get an intercooler i cant stress this enough on how much difference a new one vs a 20 year old one will have on your car. i feel like im wasting my breath on this. good luck. here just dont take my word for it read this. http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?t=82119
