wiring harness
was thinking about dropping my 7m-ge into an 85 celica supra(mk2) will the wiring harness from a 5mge be acceptable?
im going to be using thew tranny and everything out of a complete mk3 so i will have all the parts... |
The wiring harness is going to be different. As for the transmission easiest way would be measure all of the relative parts like lengths and mounting positions and see if everything will fit. I know a 7MGE will fit I have seen MK2's with 1JZ's in them before and the 1JZ is a little longer due to the turbo manifold.

Im not asking about the tranny, im asking if the wiring harness from 5m is compatible for 7m
and if so what is considered The "wiring harness" what parts i gotta pull for the wiring harness... |
The engine harness is the harness that connects to the ECU under the dash. It runs up the firewall and through the passenger side of the firewall and goes into the dash where the Computer sits. This is the engine harness. You may have to use some of the harnesses and connectors from the rest of the body harnesses. Those I am not to sure of with what will work between the two different body styles.

so either way i should take as much as i can for wiring from ECU back...
thank you for the reply |
I would definitely stick with the 7M's harness.
The MKII Supra has a longer engine bay than the Celica's, make sure it'll fit. |
just got an email from a guy with a black 84 celica supra auto 160000k
ive got a standered 7m so i think im gone go for it... |
so i pulled my exhaust, transmission, drive shafts, engine and when i pulled the engine i left connected to the engine, the giant cable that goes along the firewall and into passenger side and it contained all the wires that the ecu connects into, do i also have to take everything that the other wires from the harness were connected too...?
will my other connecters not going into the ecu but sit beside it, will they fit into the connectors of my 84 supra ? |
The rest of the harness will more than likely take some tinkering on your part, as most of those deal with underdash, gauge cluster, and body controls (lights, horn, power distribution). And I'm pretty sure the body plugs aren't the same between the mkIII harness and MkII harness.
