only gettin 8 miles to the gallon
i have an 87 supra N/A
it is only getting 8 miles to the gallon. it runs kinda rough at times, when it gets warmed up its a little better. but if you shut it off it doesnt like to start. it will start and spuder and die. and it has a miss fire. also my friend told me it spit fire out the exaust. idk what to do. im at a loss. it has 270XXX miles. but runs strong other then what i listed. Please help |
excess fuel coming out the back could cause fire? Running rough at times and bad gas mileage.. sounds like your fuel injectors are bad. you could probably use a new fuel filter

ya. some one told me to check the fuel filter. waiting to get money. lol any kind of injectors your recommend for better power? and how do you know if there bad?
|
Sounds like your timing could be off as well.

hey If I were U and you not going for any crazy upgrades... got Get some stock 440cs again or if you research it u can maybe go 550. just remember that whatever the number is, is about what the max output hp that those injectors can handle.

How about we start with checking for diagnostic codes? http://www.cygnusx1.net/Supra/TechTi...ror_codes.aspx
It seems the accepted rule of thumb with injectors on OUR engines is desired HP + ~20% overhead. Sure, a 550 CAN do 500RWHP, but it's at a higher duty cycle than most injector manufacturers will guarantee (most people you talk to will recommend 650's for 500RWHP). Flow ratings are peak, not the max sustainable flow. EDIT: Oh, and if you're running so rich you're shooting fireballs, I'd completely forget the fuel filter and expect to spend time troubleshooting the knock sensors and ignition system. |
