Do the cams have to be out to torque the arp head studs?
And is it very hard to do a hg on a 7mge ? And also would it be safe to reuse the t- belt if it looks good, it was only replaced about 10,000 miles ago? Any advice would be greatly appreciated Last edited by 907mge; 02-16-2010 at 11:04 PM. |

it is way easier to torque the head down without the cams in and if ur going arp head studs i found it easier to but the washers in the head before placing the head on the block. make sure u take your time if u have never done it before and pictures of before may help u when ur putting it back together.
as far as the timing belt i would do it anywas while ur there just for peace of mind sake and the fact that it is only like fifty bucks if that |

the crank pulley u mean? yes it does and people have problems taking it off but wut i did was heat the bolt up with a tourch and then a good impact gun takes it off no problem.. just make sure u dont damage the pulley cause they are like 750 from the dealer. but if u do heat up the bolt u will need to replace it but its only like twenty bucks

also do you know of a good gasket set, the one from toyota seems a little expensive and does not seem to include enerything needed

well if u just want to got oem replacement there are three verisons of the stock gasket(for canada toyota there is). made sure u get the newest one.and then for like the valve covers cam seals and intake and exhaust i just went to a local parts store and got it... in all i spent about five hundred on gaskets but that includes the head gasket and every single gasket for the top end.
if u use a oem replacement gasket dont torque it to the 58ftlbs that is the factory spec cause u will be in the spot that u r now not to long down the road. i would recommend eighty or eighty five but do torque them in sequence that is is recommend by toyota. i would also recommend arp head studs if u are not sure on wut ur using |
