Right now I own an 88 Volkswagen Jetta. I am looking for a new daily driver, and I want something a little more exotic and maybe rwd.
I found this Supra: Ad on Carsoup 53,000 Miles, he wants 8.5k. That seems a little steep. I was thinking it was maybe worth closer to 5k? It sounds like a sweet car. It's easy to recognize a car that somebody really loved. |

The link doesn't take you to the car, but that does seem a bit high. Check out ebay while you are looking on line. That is pretty good mileage though. Make them an offer!

Thanks, here's the ad:
Price: $8,499 Color: Pearl White Miles: 53,460 Body Style: Liftback 3 Dr Engine: 3.0L L6 TURBO EFI Transmission: Manual VIN: JT2MA71L7H0071328 Description: I am the original very meticulous non-smoking owner of this near perfect Supra Turbo. The dash, seats, and floormats have been protected since new. I have the original window sticker along with the Toyota service manual and also have original sales brochure. It has been properly maintained and babied with synthetic oils throughout the whole car after break-in period. The car has never been in the snow or an accident. The blue cloth interior is perfect. This unmolested Supra has a 7M-GTE inline six that is silky smooth and can be modified to go super fast for super cheap. This engine is still used today in the Lexus IS300 and gets good gas mileage 22-25 mpg. It has Borbet after market wheels and near new Dunlop SP9000 tires along with the original wheels and tires. The car is completely original. The only options I didnt get was the Targa top and Leather. I have been told you dont want any of those anyway in these vintage Supras?? I am sure you will not find a nicer Supra and these cars are known to go well over 200,000 miles no problem. Greg 612-961-9725 $8499 Is a Supra reliable compared to a VW? I have to work in my VW a lot. |

sounds fishy, but I tend to be really suspicious. Go check it out though, see if it's really true. Know that the blue and burgendy interiors SUCK because they bleach out so fast and look awful from the sun. Not having a targa top is a downer in my book, if you're gonna race it, it's nice to have a hard top...
Only thing I see is that he's mis-informed, the IS300 doesn't have a 7M-GTE in it... it has the MKIV 2JZ in it... Also, going over 200k miles is easy, but on an original head gasket, probably not. You'll want to tinker with your supra, trust me it's addictive. Ask for pics, info, ask if it has vertain option, what kinda oil, ect...trip him up a bit make sure it's legit. If it's showroom perfect, it might be worth it...but most others you are going to find will have 3 times that many miles. Also, what year is it? |
