Default rpms on freeway at 60mph?

time for a new thread...

so i just finished my rebuild and was wondering what your rpm's are at around 60mph.

mine is about at 3,000. seems a little high. idles at 600 really smoothly. also the car doesnt seem to have as much power as i remember. im still trying to figure out if it has enough tranny fluid in it but i think its filled now. but i was in the dirt earlier and i couldnt even burn out.....

fail.

so i wonder if its a sensor or something. going to tighten up the gas pedal cause it has a disgusting amount of play. so far the new engine has 80 miles on it. thanks for the help

That doesn't sound too far off. The GE has a very short end gear; just 4.30:1 versus the GTE's 3.91 and later 3.73.

I'll add that I'm just comparing to the W58's average at that speed.

my dad thinks i might have jacked up the throttle body in my adolescent newb stages..... (first couple times starting the car up and turning the throttle body adjuster countless times.)

sooo now time to look at the tsrm to get it plumb with everything else

you would think that the newly rebuilt engine could spin the tires just a little bit right.....?

especially in dirt of all things.

even the 4runner and corolla can do that
