On a left hand drive supra, that is not a hose. It should have a cap on it so that coolant doesn't leak out.

Since this thread is MKIII specific, I'm moving it to the MKIII section

Default response to strange hose

Thanks man. The guy I got the car from, stuck a spark plug into a hose and clamped it on there. It's been rackin my brain because I couldn't understand why the hose was there. Thanks, it must be some kind of drain hose then.

The design of the metal pipe is used on left hand drive and right hand drive vehicles. On left hand drive as btwilson86 said it should be blanked off with a rubber cap or on later models metal cap. On a right hand drive Supra that end of the pipe is used to connect to the heater matrix via the firewall and the cap is used on the metal pipe on the right of the diagram. In other words all the connections are swapped around depending if its right hand or left hand drive.
