7MGE Head Swap
 

Hi everyone I bought a 87 supra 7MGTE a couple of weeks ago with a blown turbo and blown head gasket.

I have since replaced the turbo but now I have to replace the head gasket and have a few questions. Is it possible for me to take the head off of a 7MGE and put it onto my 7MGTE? The reason is 7MGE head has been rebuilt ported and polished. Or can I take my Turbo and manifolds and put them on the 7MGE? I have access to the whole 7MGE car.

The heads are the same, but you'll want to swap over the GTE's intake cam and you'll need to replace/rearrange the lifter shims so the cam lobes have the proper clearances. The exhaust cams are the same, no worries there.
