OD on all the time?
I was thinking about keeping OD on all the time to help with gas, will this hurt the tranny, engine or anything but performance?

It should only show as off when the switch is turned off on the shifter. OD is just 4th gear in the auto tranny so if it is off, the tranny will only shift to 3rd at the highest.

That would indicate a transmission error code. Check the codes as detailed in the Automatic Transmission section of the TSRM.
