Which ARP head studs?
 

Hi guys which ARP head studs should I use for my 87 7MGTE Turbo.

The first one is BOLTS, the second is for STUDS. If the difference in price doesn't matter to you get the studs, but you'll have a hard time getting the head back on unless the block's out of the car; It can be done by removing the hood and getting the wire harness off the firewall.

That depends on what you wanna do and how often that engine is coming out. I just got the ARP bolts (your first link) and they're absolutely fine for leaving the engine in the car if ya need to remove the head. Using the studs (2nd link) are much better for the sake of torquing down and more easily lining up the head on the block, but the head doesn't come off there easy while the engine is in the car. You're required to pull the head straight up, and it doesn't quite clear to firewall. For serious racing, I'd say studs for sure. For the street, bolts work, but be sure to torque them more than factory spec. I torqued my bolts to 75ft/lbs. The choice is yours :dunno:

The newer ARP studs have an allen key so they may be installed/removed while the head is in place.

If it is a largely stock build either one is just fine. For higher power setups studs provide MUCH more clamping force and provide more accurate torque.

Also, the forst time the bolts are installed you are supposed to retorque them after several complete heat cycles. If they're being reinstalled you don't. It not a bad idea to retorque studs too though.
