Default engine problems

I have a problem at cold start the rpms goes at 500 and than stals.When got to work temp.its fine and work ok at 800.Sometimes when I goes hard on the right foot,the car sut down when I let the aceleration pedal off?And I hear some knocking sound at head of the engine-can somebody tell me what to do I didnt check the codes...

How about start by checking codes?

I check the codes,and this is what I found-12,24,51.

12- rpm signal/ crank angle pulse/ cam angle sensor
24- intake air temp signal/ air flow meter
51- a.c. or neutral start switch--- is it a automatic?

thanks for info,its manual and I dont want to swap it just interest if the crankshaft of 7mge fit to 7mgte engine?And the air flow meter what to do with it?

the cranks will swap over but there are 2 different ones a 6m and 7m. the 7m is the best its fully ballanced from the 89 to 92 you can tell the difference because the 7m has counter weights (hammers) on every shaft and the 6m is like every other and should have 6m stamped on it.. for the afm bench test it or try cleaning it the air temp sensor is the little probe in front of the v shaped meter when you look in side

let me know what you find wrong. i have the same issue as you. hard to start, starts and stall. bogs around 1500rpm and past 1500rpm no problem. no start after hot. replace throttle position sensor plugs and there are no vacuum leaks or coolant leaks. any suggestions

do not spray any sort of cleaner into your AFM.

my bad use a dry cloth..wipe away the buildup, as for the idle it might be time to have your injectors cleaned and balanced.

As for the idle and cold start problem I replaced the spark plugs and now I dont have a problem with idle....
