problems
I have an 87 mk3 7mge motor blow up. i swapped an 7mgte into it n it is not gettin fire now what to do.
|
Start with checking error codes.
|
first i assume this 7mgte was running....
get a flashlight and start looking at EVERYTHING make sure its all hooked up there is alot of cables and wires and hoses to reconnect |
thanks will check all wires n hoses. will get back to u on that.
|
are you getting spark at all? if so, try adjust your timing... if not... at least you know which end of the elec system you need to focus attention on. Also, did you get a new ECU with the turbo? 7mge != 7mgte on several different levels... including compression ratio..

as well as many others, but he said he had an N/A and says nothing about a gte conversion it is nice to hear the whole story.... |
He did mention he went from 7mge to 7mgte swap... so conversion was done... what was included on the 7mgte and what was missing vs process and procedure maintained and followed during the swap is anyone's guess...

Which are you running the GE electronics and harnesses or the GTE electronics and harnesses? They're NOT mix and match.

As I said, they're not mix and match. Either swap completely over to the GTE electronics or stick with GE electronics and add some aftermarket fuel control/tuning gear.
The dizzy will work in place of the CPS, but the GTE will not be able to use it as the ignition source. The GTE runs a wasted spark setup, the GE doesn't. Additionally, the GTE sends three different signals (three different wires) for spark to the igniter versus the GE which only uses one wire. What other GE components are you trying to use? |

You'll need the GTE igniter and the coil packs.
