Speed Sensor Problem (Auto)

Greetings everyone, I'm getting a code 61 which points to vehicle speed sensor #2 in the auto transmission. The sensor itself is a 3 wire sensor for a vehicle equipped with ABS (please correct me if I'm wrong). My car is not equipped with ABS which leads me to believe that the tranny was replaced at some point. My question is would a replacement 3 wire speed sensor work with my vehicle? The flashing OD light is getting annoying. :) Any help would be appreciated.

From what I understand there are two more speed sensors on the front wheels I am replacing mine because it is leaking at the sensor and was told that a srew type plug would be an easy fix if I did not have ABS but I do so have to replace the sensor.I am not one hundred pecent that I am right so I would ask around some more before believing me.

First, thanks for your reply. Let me start off by saying that my vehicle does not have ABS on it. As for the sensors, I know that speed sensor 1 is located in the speedometer somewhere. The second one is in the transmission. They made two types of auto transmissions for our cars, one that had an ABS sensor and one that didn't from what I've found in my research. I bought a non-ABS sensor and was told that it wouldn't fit. So I'm stuck either trying to modify the existing ABS sensor somehow, or the sensor is pooched and I just need to buy a new ABS one. Basically the ABS sensor is a 3 wire sensor and the non-ABS is a single and the bracket to mount the sensors are a bit different (pics tomorrow.) I just thought maybe someone on here would have experienced this problem before and has a solution before I spend money. :)

So you can't just swap sensors and brackets and be done with it? Would you mind posting pics of the sensors?

Here are the links to the pictures of the two sensors:

And actually, here's a link to the thread itself if you're interested (goes into detail about the two sensors and about a potential swap, but I don't understand what it's talking about really):

Thanks. Given the significant difference between the triggers I would say no. The only way I think you're likely to get them working with each other would be by adding an intermediary circuit (as suggested in that thread) to modify the pulse frequency. From what I understood from that, will have to change out the trigger wheel.

Hmm... I was afraid of something like that. Well, I guess I'll have to try and figure something out then. Thanks for your help

Yeah, the details posted in that other forum paint a pretty clear picture.

So pretty much what's needed is similar to the blackboxes you can get for bikes with electronic speedos to convert them between kmh/mph, in that for a given number of pulses from the ABS type sensor, it sends the non-ABS car's ECU the requisite number of pulses that a non-ABS box sensor would send at a given speed?

EDIT-: ahh that page loads for me now & that's pretty much it ain't it, or go with a dash from the same car as the box came from.
