Noob to This thread.. BOV Question
Hi. My name is Carlos. Currently i own a 1989 toyota supra automatic n/a. THe engine was swapped out for a 7mgte with turbo transmission and turbo differential.
Story of the car. the car has been in my hands now for 2.5 months. ITs been in my garage for .7 months. The guy who sold me the car was an older gentleman, who simply screwed me over. I payed 2000 for the car, and drove it home. Well... 2 weeks into owning the car, engine knock, followed by my flywheel falling off. Short story, pull the engine, remove tranmission to find the flywheel hanging out in the transmission. the previous owner left the flywheel with only 4 bolts, and the engine was entirely loose(bolts were easy to remove when removing the essential parts such as manifold, turbo... which were all escaping air). Well im currently in the rebuild process when i found a hks ssqv in my attic from my past build. Now... How DO i INSTAL this into my completely stock 7mgte??? Thanks in advance for all the help i will recieve in this forum. |

your gonna need to get a pipe between your turbo and intake that has a fitting for your bov but ive heard these engines have a tendancy to stall with an external bov so you would need a tune also more work than its worth just to get the noise atleast imo (plus i dont like the hks sound)

In all honesty I run a bailey dump valve & experience no problem on overrun, all that happens basically is that the airflow meter has registered so much air has gone in & when the BOV opens to atmosphere it loses a few litres, hence sending the engine slightly rich for the second or so that it's open.
All that's needed to fit is to remove the stock recirc. valve, plug the hole that leads to the turbo inlet (on the "accordion pipe") with the bung supplied with the BOV, clamping it with a hose clip of course, and fit the BOV to the other hose (from the "3000 pipe" on top of the motor.). Not forgetting of course to fit the small vac/boost pipe to the nipple too. See what you think, if it affects the running badly chances are though theres something else amiss IMO as running my Bailey unit causes no more than a small puff of black unburnt fuel from the exhaust if shutting off from high boost. (that's only an observation made by a following car after pulling full bore from 30 to 100 & closing the throttle).
