struts questions
so i was looking at new JDM rear and front struts on ebay, after my brother got new ones for his 2000 integra.
and everything looks pretty simple to put on my 89 supra (non-turbo) but there is like these gaskets, on each side of the engine and in the hatch. ive seen some engines without them completely. but theres alot with them. so my question is do i try and completely take them off and put on the strut, or order the struts and see if they go on top and by the way, im 15 and have been working on this car non-stop for the past year, so i like doing work, but i dont exactly know what im doing. so im just checking in on this. thanks guys! Peter. |

Those "gaskets" are called strut mounts and I don't know why you call the struts JDM. I'm sure the USA model uses the same suspension as a Jdm one. Be careful when messing with struts since the springs can be under tension. And no it is not that easy to do struts on the mk3 with the double wishbone suspension. It took me about a day and a half but i also did the sway bars. Good Luck.

well all i thought, and all it looks like, is you take off the strut mounts, then put in your new strut and bolt it back together.
would it help if i put like the whole back end up on some jacks? to releive some tension. |

Yeah I don't think you understand. Take a look though here.

You should get all the parts to do it right. But you might not have to replace the strut mounts but should get the rubber insulators.
