blown turbo????
so im pretty sure i really blew the turbo up... just wanted to make sure.
well i ran it hard at about 15psi a couple of nights ago and heated it up pretty good and start loosing boost in third and fourth gear and then the next day made a second pull and spike way up to 20 psi and then the boost fell to 8 psi and stayed there and wouldnt boost higher. it was pour smoke out under WOT and even more under decel. then it will puff a little at idle and a fair bit on start up.there is quite a of shaft play in all directions. and i get a high pitched noise under boost as well. the engine still runs and drives fine. does this sound like its a blown turbo or anything else? and is there a sure way to tell with out pulling the turbo off the car? thanks for the help in advance |

sorry about your trouble but lol.
what made you think it was a good idea to run 15 psi? do you have any mods what so ever to your internals? your lucky the turbo was the only thing that went pear shaped.

well bottom end is all forged top end is all brand new with titanum valves and springs. 3 inch exhaust. 550cc injectors. and the turbo is gone and the a couple of the head studs let go to cause i got coolant come from behind the exhaust manifold.
so got the head off last night and the new gasket and studs are going to be here tomorrow so it should be ready to roll by the end of the week |

oh sounded like you were more then capable. thing about ct-26's is they don't like being pushed past 13.5 with the 40" trim. most likely just old age of the turbo brother.. good luck on your next run

well for now im going to run a stock ct 26 cause i have one that i can get for cheap and just run stock boost untill i can afford getting something bigger and better and a stand alone ems
i was thinking something like this http://www.suprastore.com/ct26turup.html either that or i have thought about doing a twin turbo on the 7m just for the fun of it |

well the turbo is really blown and i decide to do a compression test and it cam in at 74-85 psi on dry and on a wet test it came in at 85-98 psi. so the rings arent to bad and there is no oil in coolant or coolant in oil so its not a head gasket, it runs fine to but just smokes all the time. now with the compression that low it is either valve staying open or the they arent sealing right. but my question is that when i did the rebuild the head was shaved .3mm from stock so i went to a .4mm thicker then stock head gasket would that .1mm cause the compression to drop that much?

hp as in horsepower under boost i couldnt tell you a for sure number but if i was to take a guess i would say around the four hundred mark... i was able to shred tires like no tomorrow. from a rolling start in second gear if i would walk on it the back tires would break free no problem
