Hey everyone . looking for some help here. I dont really know anything about the 87 supra turbo. i might not even have the year right. Anyway I can have the car for free. it used to run fine and i personally think it has basically sat for maybe 5 years tops. I think it ran as recent as 2 yrs ago. i tried to start it today it just cranked over but nothing. i was gassing it a bit i didnt smekll any fuel though. Basically know nothing about the car and am looking for help on what things i should check first and maybe facts on what happens to the gas after a long time like that maybe what to do. Would fuel lines just clog ? should i blow them out with a compresor ? just lookng for a direction to take off in thanks alot

I had the same problem after my 87 turbo sat for a few years. Checking the fuel lines is a good place to start. You might also want to check the fuel pump. My fuel pump ened up rusting form the fuel going bad. this is a common problem when fuel sits for to long. Pull off the fuel feed line before the fuel rail and turn the ignition on. Do not try to star the car, it wont anyway ( no fuel). Turn ingition off then see if the is any fuel on the ground. This will tell you if your fuel pump is bad. Also if the car has been sitting for that long I would drain all the fuel out of the tank and put in some fresh 91 octane. If the pump is bad you will need to drain the fuel anyway. Good luck.

Do you think i would need to take the fuel tank off to clean it or anything ?? is the fuel pump in a relatively easy spot to get to or on the top ? fuel line would they need to be replaced ? im not sure what happens to gas after a few years doesnt it gum up ?
Think its worth it to pick up for free or the cost of the tow unless it isnt that hard getting it running. I will definitely update this when i check it out a bit more Thanks for the help oh and the service manual stufff too thanks |

and don't forget to unplug the coilpack before it starts..... you don't wanna start a dry engine or you'll be doing a rebuild in no time
also check the efi fuse it may have blown.... located in engine bay fusebox
