90 Degree hose job
hi guys. well as luck would have it the 90 degree hose went out. when purchasing a new one you have really only 2 choices. 1, order the exact part from toyota or 2, find one at your local auto part stores with the exact same bend radius.. ( you need that!) I went and got one just by eyeball and didn't fit. I had to end my work on that note due to the time. now today its raining outside, (nice) so I have to wait for the rain to stop in order to proceed.
in order to get to the 90 degree ( #5 water bypass hose) you pretty much have to strip your car down to valve covers. so while your there give it a tune up, new valve cover gaskets (if needed) and inspect the condition of your #3 valve cover gasket. if in need of repair see. http://www.toyota-supra.info/forums/...ark-plugs.html as it turns out I have a foot of oil in my last 2 spark plug gallery. (BAH) so going to replace those seals on the allen head bolts today (napa ordered 25 oil drain plugs just for my order last night) just a question tho, are you able just to unscrew those 14mm allen head bolts directly from the #3 valve cover or is there other things I need to take off. like the rest of the valve covers ( you only need to remove the LEFT valve cover in order to repair the 90 degree hose) I bought a valve cover gasket cause i figured i would just change them since i was down there. my #3 valve cover was broken and chipping.. im afraid one of the chips fell down into the valve cover.. (oh noes) im screwed. anyhow Ill take some pictures from my camera phone once i start to re assemble. oh and I found tons of oil in my accordion hose ( turbo leaking oil, time for a new one) and in my intake hoses. heres the link for the components page for the tsrm http://www.cygnusx1.net/Supra/Librar...aspx?S=EM&P=32 just waiting on the rain to stop. I need to go to work tomorrow and I don't have a car ( ) all i have to do is put on the hose. and re install the parts taken off. heres hoping the rain stops soon..

just an update..
hose is on the back of the engine. any 90 degree (make sure its 90) will work just a matter of cutting it down to size. cant use the Original clamps tho. to tight of fit. and those screw ones are junk. gonna have to get some quality ones and re apply that. waiting on a 9/16 bolt to finish the #3 valve cover. Pick up the oil drain plug gaskets today. but no one in town sells either a 14mm allen head or a 14 mm bolt! so use a 9/16th hex. fits just as well. hope this post was a tad helpful. there are numerous posts about the dreaded 90 degree hose. this one took a couple tips from each and put it together in one place. not very in depth but straight forward.
