New guy here with a question...
Im looking for the original decals that came on the back on the MKIII. Many ppl confuse them with the MKII decals, but they are actually MKIII decals...
I MADE AN EXAMPLE OF WHAT THEY LOOKED LIKE HERE... http://c1.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/i...a99b81cb30.jpg They looked just like these... http://c4.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/i...daa26f1e0b.jpg thanks :) |
You mean your looking for a place where you can get them to stick them on your car...?
Or did you just want the painted on or sticker on letters for "SUPRA"? I personally think cars look better with less decals on them... unless they came on the car stock like the 3-D "Turbo" and "Toyota Supra" logos. |
try a dealership to see if they sell them. most likely they do. or look on ebay and try to track one down.
|
does ANYONE have another example? because a lot of people dont believe me when i say that there were MKIIIs with decals too...
|
i believe you becuase mine still has them on it. it says supra all the way across the back of the hatch.

ill do my best to help you out man. if i could give you mine i would becuase im about to take mine off. maybe i could get you the sizes and stuff of the letters. if that would help you. just tell me if the sizes would help and ill get them for you.
|
I have never seen that on an MK3
|
mine says supra right across the bottom of the hatch where it curves back in it latch. the body of mine is completely factory and ive seen it a few times from the factory on other mk3s.

The only "decal" that I know of on the MKIII is built right into the molding. The "decal" portion (Supra) for the MKIII would have to be aftermarket, I am fairly certain. I did get a Supra font from somewhere though, that can be used.
|
so did all mk3's have the decal? cause im fairly certain I have the top of the line model.. turbo, leather seats, targa top. ma71. factory installed amp under passenger seat.. no decal to speak of though. or traces of one long faded off.
|
No, those decals were never stock on the MKIII.... in any market. I have seen custom batches and group buys pop up on the various forums every couple years though. It wouldn't surprise me either to find that some dealers may have been putting on replacements for MKIIs.
|
im the third owner of my supra. and ive talked to both of the other owners about the car. and neither one of them have messed with the body its all like it was from the factory. and mine has it on there. so i dont know if somebody at the dealer or something put it on but i know that neither one of the other owners did.
|
i think it was a {dealer option} and NO not all MKIIIs had them, ive only seen around 5 of them with the decals and they are usually accompanied by B-pillar SUPRA decals and sometimes side stickers like so... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...ealerdecal.jpg

There's a difference between pin striping and a decal imo.
That pic looks like pinstriping and therefore I label it after market.. even if the dealer put it on. I have seen "decals" for the Supra.. but I avoid them. To me (personal preference) a clean supra is godly. |

wow.. some very sharp MKIIs in there. That was my original target. I bought the MKIII out of frustration.. and then a week after i bought it.. I found the MKII I was looking for. Ah well.. I like the MKIII just as well now.
|

So, my $0.02....
I think that decal fits the car VERY well. Very 1980's, just like our MKIII's ;) If you find a place that sells them, be sure to post a link or contact info here please. |
I saw a Supra (90 N/A no targa) that was silver with a red pinstriping kit that accented the body flaring. It was a custom jobbie that looked pretty sharp. (just the two sides) However.. I still prefer clean personally. :P

I remember the 1st time I saw them,I was living in Tampa and the girl who I dated at the time worked at a salon {BTW here is the car i would pic her up in http://c1.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/i...cbbbec79cc.jpg And i still have it almost 10-years later} And across the street there was a shopping center and everyday in that parking lot someone would show up in a CLEAN black with grey interior 86-88 MKIII with light grey decals on the trunk, pinstripe on the side, and the B-pillar decals,And this car had some Oldschool 16-17inch 5-star rims that looked like Enkie/Ferrari rims, and were about 9-inches wide... Yep I must say it was a pretty site...made me get one.... looked a lot like this... http://c1.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/i...6915ee208c.jpg :) |
