Default Test Drove an 89 Turbo Today / MY N/A IS NEARLY AS FAST

Well low and behold a guy I went to Jr High with has an 89 Targa Turbo Supra on the road to my home out for sale. I took it for a test Drive. Clean immaculate car real sweet. The thing is I was surprised at how little a difference acceleration was between the turbo and my NA yes it was quicker but not so noticeably quicker. Also the oil pressure stayed on 40 when mine fluctuates between 25 and 40 and stays at 40 only if I am getting on the throttle heavy. Where is the oil pressure supposed to be? The car overheated so we parked it. SO what does your pressure guage show? Also why are the 89s missing the TEMS system?

Nevermind I searched Google and found my answers, 20 to 40 is normal for an N/A running 10w 30, still I was surprised how alike the speeds were between my Supra and the Turbo, the turbo only has 30 more horsepower over the N/A and the Sport model like mine has the TEMS system. The one I drove today was the white on white package with white wheels with Electric seats, no TEMS but had the Targa. Targa leaked while I test drove it. A very pretty well kept car.

But I have to tell ya, that Turbo was not at all what I was expecting. You guys talk like thats the Bomb but it was nearly the same as my N/A.

lol.. probably a clogged intercooler and tons of vacume leaks.. I raced a NA the other day and blew it straight out of the water.. I wouldnt trust someone who isnt capable to change the targa seals to check for vacuum leaks or notice its not getting allot of power.

Default Na vs turbo

You guys might be right, he had recently replaced the radiator, so maybe he has been trying to figure out the problem, but still it was a real sweet car. He wants $2500 for it. I don't currently have the money but if I did I would buy it because of the overall condition and fix whatever was wrong with it.

Still looking forward to finding a Hot Turbo to test drive to see if I want to move from my NA to a Turbo. I was driving down the highway this morning and my car DIED!

Just died deader than hell.

I pulled over all freaked out. Turned out the coil wire had fallen off. That plug just doesn't fit on there well. I was relieved and was back on the road in seconds.

yea it could also be clogged lines, but its hard to have a clogged inter cooler

really 2500$ and it wasnt even faster than an N/A...i would offer half that
really just search and really take your time...
be patient and your going to find a sweet deal with not a damned thing wrong...
