Default Gas tank leaking on turns but not when parked

87 turbo, set up 3 years. had tank cleaned out and fit back. all seemed good. drove back from FL to SC last week. On the way back, though, filled up tank for first time. I was expecting the gas pump to just automatically shut off or even come out the top but instead when full i see this gush come from the bottom of the car. It does not leak when parked. It seems to leak when accelerating away or pulling in my driveway, turning etc., which makes me think it is something toward the top of the tank or coming down from filler. Any ideas? Thanks!

if it leaks when your filling it maybe the neck.. (filler) has corroded? happened on a work van. everytime i would put gass in it it would leak all over the pavement at the fill station..

yes, that is what I was thinking too. Can you get a neck separate or is it all one piece?

Lots of individual parts, Link , you will need to drop the fuel tank .Not the easiest of jobs, you’ll find every thing that needs to be undone is rusted solid or falling apart. (especial the tank straps) not the place to use a blowtorch to loosen things up either, spray what you can with penetrating fluid and leave for a few days before you start.
PS: Listed numbers shown in the diagram are just figure #`s and may not be Toyota stock part #`s

this a turbo or NA..

if its turbo I would suggest that whilst you have your fuel tank dropped upgrade your fuel pump to a walbro 255.

if its an na.. than get a turbo. lol. jk, not really.

I think I might have a poor seal between tank and filler neck on the '2'..... gonna be interesting pulling that tank out...
