Default Occasional Clicking Sound (Blinker sound) coming from instrument cluster

On occasion, 1 in 4 or 5 times, I open my door (87) to go to work in the morning and immediately hear this clicking sound coming from the dash behind steering wheel. The sound is like that of a blinker sound or an emergency flasher sound except slightly faster. It starts fine etc. but feel it may be draining my battery a little as start lights always seem a little dimmer when this happens. When I leave the car this noise is not present. The sound kicks in after I leave. I suppose it goes on all night sometimes. Any ideas what this might be? Thanks.

87 Turbo, automatic

the Japanese put gremlins in our cars..

idk man sounds like something on your instrument cluster is on its way out. onlything I can think of A: either just replace your whole instrument cluster or B: start checking the resistance between things and switch out the faulty relay.

wish i could be more help. I'll throw some key words in google and see what pops up.

in the mean time if your really worried about it draining your battery. just unplug it for the evening.

When it starts clicking does your interior lights come on? Does it happen when u have the key in the ignition and with it out? I'm thinkin your door switch is sticking or contacts worn out.

there should be no noise once the key is turned off.. you have no power going to anything. you open the door and your light comes on and you hear the clicking..

i ripped everything apart because somtimes mine goes off 15 plus times in a row while driving...

i always thought it was somthin to do with the ect(norm/power) or somthing because i never had any sounds in my other 3 supras that were all manuals

yea I don't know how to take this any further. just replace the column. that would probably fix it.

you miss the point that it doed nothing, and doesnt matter....

try ignoring it, or turning the music up or start driving like a man so you cant hear anything but the engine...
