Welcome to the forum
Please don't post in the FAQ section, that is for frequently asked questions. That forum is also moderated, which is why your thread has just appeared. For general questions, please ask them here in the MKIII Supra forum. The 24 valve means that the engine has a total of 24 valves, 4 valves per cylinder. The intake and exhaust camshafts each operate 2 valves per cylinder. The "3000" marking states that this is a 3000cc engine (it actually doesn't displace a full 3000cc's, the number is rounded up from 2954, I believe). IIRC, factory turbo-equipped models do not say "24 Valve" or "3000" on the valve covers whereas the N/A models do. This would leave me to believe the 89 Supra you are looking at buying is a non-turbo model. Some simple snooping around under the hood should confirm this, you can't miss the turbo... |
my turbo says 24 valve on the plastic cover..
real ez to tell if you have a turbo or not.. look and see if you have a turbo.. or not. do you have a boost gauge on your dash consul? does your rear trim say "TURBO" on it.. if you answer No to any of these questions then no its not a turbo.. if you answer IDK to any of these questions. sell your car. |
my plastic cover actualy says
24 valve Intercooler Turbo just to clarify |
thanks guys !
