ooh boy, auto to manual tranny swap question.
i want my 87 supra (N/A) to be manual.
whats the best route to take. there is no way to trade the car for a 5 speed, or buy a project 5 speed either. so what can i do? this is a really big issue for me.. can i take a transmission and motor out of a similar car? if so would it be worth it? any help please, like ive said this is a really big issue for me...thanks |
bump bump!

You can swap a 5 speed in but you need all the parts like transmission, clutch, clutch pedals, master and slave and hard lines And you have to do something else to the wiring I think to
|
i know that, but nowadays you can seldomly get ahold of a supra 5 speed tranny...
is there any other car i can take the tranny out of? |
Toyota Cressida some years had 7mge in them
|
you need:
w58 5 speed transmission front half of drive shaft from a 5speed clutch and brake pedals from a 5 speed hard line that goes from master to slave clutch cylinders master and slave clutch cylinders (i would buy new) Clutch and flywheel for w58 what would be nice: radiator from a 5 speed. all rubber boots to protect from dirt and leather shifter boot. and of course you need to trick your neutral safety start switch: http://i24.servimg.com/u/f24/12/44/02/09/86_00411.jpg remove this from your auto tranny and plug the wires back into your engine harness in the P Park position, or the car will never start. good luck. did i miss anything?? |
thanks. where can i find the wh8?
easiest haha this was good thank you, i new what i needed but miss acouple things. should i find a junk cressida and take the tranny out of that? |
most 5speed cressida aorund my area have been scrapped for there 5 speeds and 5m and 7m engines.
i would honestly just try and buy a super rusty 5 speed supra same year as yours and that way you see it all come off, and can put it all back on without problems |
sorry
sorry i didnt make this clear..
i know what i need, well some what, so pointer in that would be good what im trying to really ask is whats the easiest way to get my hands ahold of a 5 speed tranny and most or all the parts? sorry for that, bad on my part for not clarifying my true question |

its you who is not understanding. "buy a rusty supra for its 5 speed tranny" that way you get EVERYTHING not just a tranny. you get the pedals... cylinders...hardline... clutch... not to mention all the dirt boots and leather boot... |
