Red would jump out, but white would be good too since it'll tie the exterior color in. Are you planning anything else to be a different color (like ignition wires, brackets, timing cover, etc)?

Or you can paint it black, and polish the letters back to aluminum. THAT would be nice

that sounds nice,
what would i use to polish it back to aluminum? steel wool, or fine sand paper?

I'd use a low speed dremel tool or something similar to clean the paint of of the area you want polished, then using sandpaper sand it by hand building up to a reallllly fine grit.

I once had a set of 7MGE covers that I sanded smooth ending with 1000 grit paper, they looked damn nice. No more casting pits or marks of any kind, but still weren't to that shiny polished look. However, they were almost there.

I'd guess you'd want to reach 1500 grit, and then use high temp clear coat paint to give the whole cover a nice, glossy finish.
You'll probably need to use a clear adhesion promoter for the sanded parts. I believe Duplicolor makes the adhesion promoter and high temp clear coat.

I have a white car and I painted the cam covers with a white engine enamel.
Nothing fancy, just clean.
If you wish, I can snap some pictures.
Oh..Very easy to keep clean...

+1 on the pics, always nice to see the little things people do to dress up their engine bay. Wish I still had some pics of the covers I sanded down...

Dang, I like it. Doesn't jump out at you, it's a nice subtle touch up. Not to mention the clean engine bay all around tying everything up real nice
