which BOV?
I have a whole set of IC pipes, rad pipe and inlet pipe coming from Cooleeze.
http://www.cooleeze.com/toyota-product.html my question is... which BOV flange to get on the IC kit? I know little to nothing about the BOV and the flange, so some quick help would be nice, thanx. I want this set asap, so I have to inform Greg which I want before it will be sent. Price of the BOV is not an issue. anyone sell these in Canada? how is this one? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/GREDD...97505199QQrdZ1 or this one with dual 'horns' (what flange would this one use?) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Toyot...99030876QQrdZ1 is there something in particular Im looking for in a BOV? I have a 1987 Supra Last edited by Prez420; 09-08-2005 at 06:05 PM. Reason: more info |

no hp gain from any BOV
Quote:
A BOV just vents the excess pressure from your intake manifold when your off throttle or in between shifts. the bigger the bov the faster it can vent which may improve time between shifts, but they just sound so cool. i hightly recomend the monza/hks knockoff for 90$ on ebay. its ssqv just like hks and its frigging loud. hahhahhaha part for part is identical to theres.. there are no HP gains from one BOV manuifacurer to another in my thought prosses. ssqv types open and close faster than just the pull types and therefore improve responce time of the turbo spooling up?? Pull types also have problems under high boost. Unless you have a fuel computer, do not vent it to the atmosphere or it will run like crap when you let off the throttle. Venting back into the intake actually helps keep the turbo spooled up since it will blow back into the turbo.
The Bosche style BOV is a cheap effective upgrade for the stock BOV, it's larger, and less likely the stick. I also found somewhere a hybrid BOV that vents some to the atmosphere and some to the intake, best of both worlds... |
