can someone tell me the difference between a 1jz and a 2jz

it would help if you include states of boost and hp. im thinking about swaping but dont know the diffrence

I think 1jz is 280hp and 2jz is 320hp and the 2jz has better longer lasting turbos But I think the 1jz is an easier swap and both bottom ends can take 900hp and both valve trains can take 600hp Kind of the same motors with diff. Turbos

2jz is a 3.0L and the 1jz is a 2.5L
1jz has 276hp & 268lb-ft of torque
JDM 2jz has 276hp & 318lb-ft of torque
American 2jz has 320hp & 315lb-ft of torque
Someone said that the turbos on the 2jz are better but as far as I know that is only true for the american models. The JDM models come with ceramic turbos
I have gone through this same process but I think that in the end the 2jz is the better engine
It was built off of the 1jz and so they improved on it plus the extra displacement means it will take less to yield higher horses and you can peak it higher
If you decide to go for the 2jz it will definitely cost you. Especially if you want a manual tranny
This knowledge is just based off of what I have learned while trying to figure out myself if the 2jz was worth it. In the end I decided I just wanted to go for the best engine possible and so the saving began. lol

By the way, I can't even find an American 2jz for sale on Ebay. Only the JDM versions tend to go but it's an AWESOME engine

From what I understand the 1jz has a higher reving head. If you search you may find what they call a 1.5jz that is a 2jz bottom with a 1jz head.

what is the redline for the 1j?

from what I can see it's at 7000 rpm with a limiter at 7250.

BTW, "Google" is your friend. You can use it to search common information like horsepower stats, displacement, and red lines. The info I found here was the first website listed when searching "red line 1jz engine".

the 1jz head flows better than the 2jz head. the 2jz head has a "s" shape in the exaust ports bettwen cyls 4 and 5. the 1jz head does not have this.

1jz Cylinder bore was 86 mm (3.39 in) and stroke was 71.5 mm (2.81 in)
2jz Cylinder bore was 86 mm (3.39 in) and stroke was 86 mm (3.39 in)

ths shorter stoke is what lets rev so high.
