afew 7M-GE Vs 7M-GTE mod questions.
Ok here is the idea i had. to get 400-500 hp. now in increasing the compression by shaving the head how much can you shave it with out the engine not working or what the recommended is? second is if i put all new valves and valve spring or even over sized with over sized pistons at .20 or .40 can achieving at least 400hp on the 7M-GE be possible? the guy at suprastore.com said its not.
Im in the process of restoring an 87 supra with the 7M-GE engine i live in IL so it the only one i can find and i dont really want to go through the problems the turbo can cause plus it will be more of a cop magnet lol. i was going to go with a 3" stainless steal blitz exhaust. a cold air intake as well. a 144 amp alternator, 550cc fuel injectors and a 255lph walbro fuel pump to back it up. also the guy at suprastore.com said the most i would get out of the engine is maybe 265hp. i dont think that sounds right is the GE and the GTE that different i thought it was just the added turbo getting ride of the distributor the arraignment of how spark plug wires are run and the 3000 throttle body.

No you'll not even get close to 300. I know two people who dropped in a lot more than younger thinking about and haven't beat 300. And shaving the head is a horrible idea you've got a lot of studying to do.

*cough* bullshit.. *cough* if you been researching for 6 years you wouldn't ask for "any good sites" you woulda found them all by now. or if you mean researching as in asking dumb questions and refusing to belive the answeres than yea i could see it. all that aside. why are you putting money into a non turbo? your not gonna get anywhere with it. save that cash and get a GTE engine and swap it over. the whole engine. not just adding a turbo. as for being a cop magnet, its the same body style. and your frame wouldn't have the turbo badge. so hell, you probably wouldn't even have to inform your insurance agency. but i would in case you needed the claim. good luck. side note. if you would do all that to a "turbo" supra. you would make 400 ez.

6 years of research on supra'ss not how to repair them but to fix the problems iv had with my 86.5 that iv had for 6, 7 years. and the background of the supra's i know nothing on how to modify them. and i was thinking about getting the GTE from suprastore but i dont know what else i would need besides an intercooler. and if i did get the GTE i would have 2 GE's laying around lol

If only the 7mge had a maf. And that site looks like a scam.
You won't get anymore power out of a 7mge by puting on bigger injectors. More fuel with no use for it is worthless. The only way you will get even get close to 265 is with a stroker kit and that is even pushing it. And the kit costs a few grand. |
