Supra vs Celica
Anyone Ever Raced A Celica On The Streets And Were You Successful?
99% of the time i see one far away and when i go behind him, he turns lol and never get a chance. I always hear their loud exhausts, trying to show off. *no offense, do you think a celica is a girls car? cuz i think it does lol* Why do fine girls be in celicas with their bfs, yet none in a supra with their bfs? no offense again cause half the girls i meet arent fine and wont look good in my car =( __________________________________________________ ________________ Do you feel that loud exhaust and a BoV is intimidating? Opinions and Experiences PLEASE |
Never raced one and haven't seen any on the track. I think the newer ones are front wheel drive (which I dont like.. cause Im old.. ) They are a bit lighter than a Supra and their engines are smaller.. but I imagine you could find some very respectable ones if the owners had a mind to play.

there is one up the street from where i live and maybe i should try to race it but it is kinda a unfair race seeing how it is a gts 94 and i have a 87 supra so idk will see how it goes and i use to want a ceilca but yea now that i look at it, it kinda does seem like a girl car:barf:...ceilca

hey come on guys, celicas are the baby brother so dont mess with them , i think it will be better if we bring a thread about camaros, mustang, nissan , etc.... but celicas , please.:gotnos:

N/A Celicas, old and new, are pretty weak. Beat the pulp out of plenty of GT-S Celicas in my N/A MKIII.
|
I raced a 2000 gts celica It got me off the line but I was catching up when I got a bhg. havent raced one since
I have a stock mk3 turbo the guy had exhaust headers and intake |
I'm on the celica forum since I also have a 2000 celica gts 6spd. The car is very light(2500lbs) and does 180 hp out of a 1.8L. But the problem is the max power hits when lift kicks in around 6k rpm and max hp @ 7800. But like any car it is as fast as you can drive it and put money into. On the forum people have built 500hp plus with a turbo. A supra may be a beast but I can drive my celica all day and have fun taking the turns while getting 26mpg on average. And to say you beat a gts is very general since many of the 7th gens are auto and can't really use the power band.

And after all if it was not for the celica there would of never been a supra. And I've never seem a supra do this:

did you see the flame shoot out the back of that celica.
and drifting in a supra.. lol there's better alternatives. |
Just don't forget the gt4, it was not as popular in the us. But a 3sgte modded and paired with an all wheel drivetrain is a force not to be messed. But it is hard to compare the supra to a celica. And really any two cars for that fact. Any car can be fast its just how much money you have to spend. After all you can put a mustang v8 in a miata.
Here is a nice video i found of the gt4 : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LEvqbBEl3cg |
Pretty damn impressive rally cars.. but i think those guys standing by the road are nuts. rofl.
The driver is going to ignore bystanders until he actually runs over them.. and even then... |

i lik ethe older gt4 and all trac celicas, but imo, the newer ones seem like a rip off of the integra. Ive seen a rally mk3 supra before tho...

I don't see any mud, snow, or airtime. But anyway I found this by accident:

ive had 3 celica supras and 3 mk3 supras.
stock for stock the mk3 is faster top speed, but i find that the celica is lighter and gets up a little faster. seems that the shorter stroke, helps it get to the higher rmps faster. but after i build 1 of the 4 5ms in my garage i would look out... im just still lookin for a turbo. and to be honest i think the celica looks nicer. all the 240s and other nissans looks so similair. i guess old corollas look kinda the same. and mostly i see little punks who dont know shit about there mk3s driving around. it bothers me... but thats just my train of thought. |
My first car was a 1972 Toyota Corolla (I am going to see if I can hunt the picture down). It has a 1200 cc engine, but I used to race it (on the highway in Saskatchewan.. way back... we used to set up lights and have CB radios on both ends of a long straight stretch, and then do runs)
People thought I had a bigger engine in it because I had put 14" tires on the car and would rev the piss out of it (I wasn't bright.. but I could drive). Top speed was 92 MPH and I couldn't beat any serious cars, but by icecream coning the pistons (revved far too hard and too long) I could beat the normal ones. Light car and could take punishment. Rebuilt the engine twice for fun (simple too). Custom paint and I did the entire interior over long nights and many beer. I found out later that if you put 14" tires on a 72 Corolla, the steer wheel will eventually come off in your hands.. lol. It wasnt built to take that kind of stress.. 14,000 into the car, sold it for 4,000 and it ended up being a wreck 6 months later. Since then, I owned and customized a 73 Corolla (less money into that), and had a 72, 73, 80, 81 Celica (the 80 I totalled on a Calgary roadway doing 120 kph on a 30 kph hairpin (doh!). Used to be able to rat-race through Sask city streets and had a blast in my youth. If I tried any of that today I would be dead or behind bars.. times have changed... Loved the older Celicas (especially the 73 and 76) sad to see that there aren't many on the roads left running.. they were really nice body styles. Not too fond of the newer Celica's solely because I drove a Supra in 85 and have wanted one since. Bought my 88 because I couldn't find a decent 85 (was looking for Burgandy with leather.. but all I found was rust and rips). After 2 years of hunting.. I found my 88 MKIII. Love the car now.. it reminds me of my 73 Celica on steroids, but orginally I didn't even consider it. Would go with a MKIV because I think in the end it would save me money, but I refuse to drive one simply because I dont want to abandon my MKIII and from the people I have talked to, a MKIV is a different experience. Pick the car you like.. but dont slam the others. Yoda made good cars. |
hope you dont mean me, because i love the mk3, i live in bc there is nothing but hills and corners, scared myself every time i got in my 87, think i hit a corner in my 84 at 180km/h and that never compared to what i could do in the 87.

I thought we were talking about regular Celicas? The Celica Supra is VERY different from the 'regular' or 'vanilla' Celica it was grouped into the same class with. There are thinga about each generation of Celica that I like, but I wouldn't ever compare any of them to Toyota's more agressive offerings to the sports car world. (the Celica All-Trac with turbo was pretty nice though) |
