ok so i am looking at buying this supra its a mk3 7mgte 5 speed the owner said it ran then he put it in storage and now it will crank but not turn over . does this sound common for a 7m that has sat for awhile ? i was thinking the fuel pump .maybe hit it too see if i can get the car running ? also this will be my first toyota so i have no idea where the fuel pump is ? ( under the rear seat ? )
thank you Kyle |

the fuel pump its inside the tank. put the key and set it to on position. verify if you can hear the pump running. try to smell on the engine bay for fuel odor. verify all the fuses , inside the engine compartment and on the inside of the car. somebody will give you more info on the forum. good luck. WELCOME TO THE SUPRAMANIA.

I'm not going to go out on a limb and say that this is incorrect because I can't make sense of the wiring diagrams, but I am about 95% sure that the fuel pump will only kick on while the engine is cranking, not by just putting the key in the "On" position (unless the proper terminals in the diagnostic box are bridged for testing purposes).

how long was it in storage? and how much gas was in it? gas does go bad if it sits to long, so you may have a tank of vanish/paint stripper by now.
i got a 88 camry that sat for 2 years once, fuel pump was dead, but here in bc we get condensation hardcore so there was water in the tank. and as water sinks to the bottom of the tank, the pump will suck up the water first, and we all know water dont burn. id say pull a spark plug, unplug the coil pack and crank it a few times and see what come out the spark plug hole. put a rag or your hand over it as someone cranks a few times and see if its gas, water or what.

fuel pump
btwilsom is 100% correct, the fuel pump will not run, unless cranking,or running. You can jump terminals B+ and FP in the diag. box to run the pump.
